General Questions

Do I have to fill out paperwork?

Yes, the intake form helps provide your massage therapist with important infomation needed to ensure that bodywork is right for you. It helps them get to know more about your health history, be aware of possible contraindications for bodywork or special accomodations, your goals for seeking treatment, and any current issues you may be experiencing.

How much should I tip?

At KIWI Center, LLC we don't accept tips, the style of bodywork and massage we provide differs from that of a spa environment, though the thought is greatly appreciated! If you feel moved to leave a tip, please consider choosing one of the non-profit organizations listed when checking out and scheduling your appointment. Or leave us a review on Google, Facebook, or Yelp!

Will I get a ton of emails from you?

No, you will not get spammed by us. You will only receive emails for topics that you have signed up for via our website, forms, or purchases. Please keep in mind that all clients will be emailed on an as-needed-basis about important updates or changes.

What forms of payment do you take?

We accept credit cards, debit cards, cash, and checks. When scheduling online you do have to put a card on file. If you are a returning client and prefer to pay in cash, simply send us a text stating this and we will not charge the card you have on file.

Do you take insurance?

No we do not. But we do offer a discounted monthly membership to help make getting regular treatments more affordable. Check out the Fruit Fanatics Membership!

How can I schedule an appointment?

The easiest way to schedule is through our online booking site. You can also text us at 912-446-7881. If you call us, please keep in mind that we do not have a receptionist, but if you leave a detailed a voicemail we will get back to you as soon as possible.

What if I leave/forget something in the treatment room?

If you forget something in the treatment just send us a text letting us know and we’ll hold the item until your next appointment.

Do you require a referral from a health care provider?

No, not currently. We accept all clients with or without a referral.

What if I’m running late to my session?

We understand life can complicate things, but we also have to mindful of our other scheduled clients. If you're running late to your session, please let your therapist know so they can be prepared for when you arrive. Late arrivals may result in a shortened appointment time. If you are more than 20 mins late, your session will be cancelled and you'll be charged for the missed appointment in full.

Are there any cancellation fees?

Yes. No-call/no-show appointments and last minute cancellations (cancelled or rescheduled within 24 hours of appointment time) will incur a cancellation fee, resulting in the missed appointment being paid in full. Charges will be sent through email and/or text message for payment via credit card. Payment must be received before further treatments can be scheduled.

Emergencies will be exempt on a case by case basis.

Is there a travel fee for house-call or event sessions?

No. Any travel expenses or set-up fees have been factored into our pricing. Prices may vary if the travel distance is outside of Savannah GA and the surrouding areas.

Session Related Questions

Do I have to undress for a massage?

Not all! At KIWI Center, LLC we often have a very dynamic approach to massage and bodywork -- inloving range of motion work, stretching, and assessment or having the client be an active part of treatment -- because of this 85% of our sessions are done with the client fully clothed (athleisure attire) or mostly clothed (shorts, sports bras, etc.) Though there are times where having the client undressed and using proper draping is needed.

If this is something that concerns you or if you have more questions on this topic, please discuss this with your massage therapist so we can best accomodate you!

Can I choose the music playing during a session?

Yes, we have a default playlist that we play for most of our sessions, but you are welcome to request a specific playlist or musical artist for your session if you like.

Do you use essential oils?

Yes, we have a diffuser in the treatment room and will often use a variety of essential oils during treatment. The most frequently used scents are eucalyptus and peppermint.

Can I request a massage therapist of a specific gender?

Unfortunately, you cannot as we only have one massage therapist at this time. However, all licensed professionals associated with KIWI have been properly trained and prioritize the comfort and care of each client. Can I talk during a session?

Yes, you can. You’re welcome to just zen-out or chit-chat during treatment. No need to feel like you have to remain silent or have to talk. We appreciate when clients provide feedback about how a technique feels or when an area is sensitive and might need the technique adjusted.

Do you offer couples massage?

No, not at this time as we only have one working massage therpiast.

Can senior citizens get a massage?

Absolutely! In fact, it can be very beneficial for them. We can work with a variety of different people, however we are not certified in geriatric massage. If this is something you are looking for, please reach out and let us as we might have a professional in our network that is certified.

Do massage therapists do happy endings?

No. No licensed professional will and it is illegal to ask for, if you do you'll banned from our business. Please don't ask any licensed massage therapists this question.

How long does a massage last?

It depends on how long you have booked for. Our sessions range from 30 minutes to up to 2 hours. On average, most people book 60 or 90 minute sessions.

Do you accommodate trauma survivors?

Yes. We do our best to provide a safe and comfortable space for every client, making sure to answer any questions and address any concerns before starting treatment. We are also currently in the process of becoming a more trauma-informed practice through continuing education.

Do I have to be draped?

Draping is required by Georgia Law while the client is undressed. Draping may not be required for clients that remain fully clothed or wear athleisure attire during treatment.

Body Related Questions

What if I don’t want a part of my body massaged?

We want you to feel as safe and comfortable as possible when you come in for treatment. If you are truly uncomfortable or wanting to avoid a certain area due to trauma, abuse, assault, self consciousness, or just because you prefer to avoid it, we want to accommodate you! If it is an area that your massage therapist thinks will be beneficial to address they will explain and discuss this with you prior to any bodywork so that you can make an informed decision and give proper consent to treatment.

Addiotnally, if this is your first time scheduling with us, please make sure to indicate you'd like to avoid a specific area on your health intake form. You can also discuss this topic with your massage therapist during the consultation, if you are comfortable.

I’m pregnant, can I still get a massage?

Unfortunately, we cannot accomodate prenatal massage at this time. We believe any massage therapist that performs prenatal massage should be certified in this type of work, and we are not. We do have a wide variety of massage therapists in our network and will be happy to recommend you to one. You can also check out our network page.

I just got a new tattoo, can I still get a massage?

Yes, you can still receive massage and bodywork treatments! However we cannot work driectly over the injured site until it has fully healed.

What if my blood sugar gets too low before, during, or after a session?

At KIWI Center, LLC we try to be mindful and considerate of all our clients. We have a basket of snacks in the treatment room specifially for this reason (or for anyone that may need a quick snack). If you are somone who has blood sugar issues, please make sure to inform your massage therapist so they can be aware should modifications be needed.

What if I get thirsty during a session?

If you need a water break please don't hesitate to ask! We have chilled and room temp water bottles for you if needed.

What if I need to use the restroom during a session?

Bodily functions don't always happen at convenient times, if you need a bathroom break at any point durin your session let you therapist know and they can pause the session.

I am large chested and it hurts to lay face-down. Can you accommodate me?

We have pillows and folded towels that we can use to provide some extra support and comofrt while you are face-down. If you're still too uncomfortable with the added bolster,s your massage therapist can have you lay on your side or however you are most comfortable during your session.

What if I didn’t shave? Do massage therapists care about body hair?

We can't speak for all therapists (though we're pretty sure the majority agree) we absolutely do not care if you shaved or not! We promise your massage therapist is much more concerned about the tissues beneath your skin than if your skin is shaven or not.

What if I need to pass gas?

While it doesn;t happen often, it does happen and it's a totally normal and natural thing your body does! Massage can support digestion so it's normal to hear the noises that come along with that process.
